( 日本語は下 ) I just got back from 3 night 4 days gathering ‘ Space Mountain Festival – International Cosmic Arts Lab ‘ in Andalusia / Spain that was held between Oct 11th-14th. Organizer was Youth, a bassist of Killing Joke, a founder of UK Psy-Trance pioneer label Dragonfly Records ( My band Zen Lemonade‘s debut album ‘ Lemon Soul ‘ was released by them in 2002 ) and It’s Chill out sub label L.S.D ( Liquid Sound Design ), and basically he opened his private ‘ Space Mountain Studio ‘ for 4 days to the public to make this cosmic gathering happen.
This was my second time there, and vibe was even more magical than last edition in 2017. Unfortunately main stage where was located at 10 minutes drive away from the studio got last minutes cancellation from local authority so everything had to re-set up in his property but it actually made whole vibe more intimated and special. It was like … THE BEST house party ever than a Festival. The scale was perfectly small & comfortable ( A minutes walk from main stage to my bedroom near the studio ) for me. There were 2 stages where so many of my favorite Freestyle / Chill / Dubtronica / Psychedelic / Techno producers & Djs playing day and night including : Mixmaster Morris, Gabriel Le Mar ( Saafi Brothers ), Tripswitch, Jon Sa Trinxa, Synergy Dub, The Egg, Grantly, Robin Triskele, Tim Healy, Tarka Sand etc. Ear heaven !!!
Main stage kept going until 2am or so every night and each closing sets were all incredible live gigs. 1st night was Gaudi & Youth, 2nd night was System 7 ( Energy was incredible ! ) and 3rd night was The Orb ( Alex Peterson and new member Michael Rendall who was a studio engineer in Space Mountain studio in last edition ). Especially The Orb gig was Alex’s 60th birthday gig as well, so when they started live set around midnight, packed dance floor’s vibe went to frenzy and so magical, full of smiley faces.

I played on the second night Saturday 11pm after 2 legends from UK Dub scene, Don Letts and MC Kinky ( I was so nervous I can tell you ! ) from 11pm at the Chill out stage beside of swimming pool area. My set was only 1 hour so I tried to put diverse sound as possible while maintain uplifting story. Started by incredibly funky Psy-Glitch breaks by a young producer Orecch I discovered recently, and kept vibe funky & tribally for about 45 minutes. Then shifted to more heavy weight Psy-Breaks for deeper vibe. I played my favorite tune by Gong ‘ Escape Control Delete ‘ in the end of my set as my full homage to Steve Hillage and Miquette Giraudy, my old friends and endless inspiration, who played an incredibly energetic live set a night after as System7

スペインのアンダルシアで１０月１１日−１４日まで開催されたスペースマウンテン・フェスティバルから帰宅しました。フェスのオーガナイザーは、キリングジョークのベーシストであり、UKサイトランスのパイオニア・レーベルのドラゴンフライ・レコード（私のバンド、ゼン・レモネードのデビューアルバム’レモン・ソウル’が２００２年にそこからリリースされてます）とそのサブ・チルアウト・レーベルであるL.S.D ( Liquid Sound Design )の主宰者でもあるユース。そのユースが彼所有のスペースマウンテン・スタジオと敷地を一般に４日だけ公開してアーティスト、思想家、ライター、などなどを招聘して開催するイベントなんです。
私にとって今年は２０１７年開催の前回フェスに引き続いて２回目の参加だったんですが、ヴァイブは前回よりさらに魔法がかってました。
と、いうのも元々メインステージはスタジオから車で１０分離れた場所になる予定だったんですが、なんと当日になって地元行政よりキャンセルが出てしまい、やむなくメインステージで予定されていたアーティストが全部スタジオ敷地内に設けられた２つのステージでプレイすることに。
ただ不思議なことに結果はこのおかげで小ぢんまりとしたフェス全体の親密度がぐっと高まり、特別な体験をしているようなプライヴェート感満載のヴァイブが４日の間続くことに貢献してました。２つのステージではミックスマスター・モリス、ガブリエル・ル・マー（サーフィーブラザース）、トリップスイッチ、ジョン・サ・トリンクサ、エッグ、グラントリー、ロビン・トリスケル、ティム・ヒーリー、タルカ・サンドなど私のお気に入りのフリースタイル、チル、ダブトロニカ、サイケデリック、テクノのプロデューサーやDJ陣が入れ替わりたちかわりでプレイ。好みの音ばかりで幸せでした！
スタジオの外下方に設置されたメインステージでは３晩続けて素晴らしいライブセットがトリでした。１晩目はユースとガウディ、２晩目はシステム７（二人から放たれるエネルギーが半端なくて感動しました！）、そして最終日はザ・オーブ（アレックス・パターソンと新メンバーのマイケル・レンドール。彼は前回２０１７年のフェスではスタジオ・ジャムセッションをテイクケアするスタジオエンジニアだったんですよねー。意外な展開にびっくり）。特にオーブのはアレックスの６０歳の誕生日ギグでもあったので、彼らのライブが午前０時過ぎに始まるやいなや、小ぶりのダンスフロアはぎっしり、バイブはフレンジー（狂乱じみて）かつマジカル、とにかく笑顔いっぱいのハッピーな顔で溢れていました。
私のセットは土曜日の午後１１時から、イギリスのダブ・シーンにおける伝説的なアーティスト２人、ドン・レッツとMCキンキーの後でした（すごく緊張しちゃった！）。持ち時間は１時間だけだったので、ストーリーを維持しながら多様な音をミックスするよう心がけました。
最近発掘しためちゃくちゃかっこいいサイケデリック・グリッチをプロデュースするオレッチの曲から始めて４５分ほどはファンキーかつトライバルなヴァイブを維持。そこから更にディープなサイ・ブレイクスへと移行。最後にかけた私のお気に入りでもあるゴングの名曲’ Escape Control Delete ‘は、次の夜にシステム７としてプレイした古い友人であるスティーブ・ヒレッジとミケット・ジラウディ（二人ともゴングのメンバー）へと捧げた私のオマージュです。
