Soleil Bohemia

[ Label Release Note ]

‘ Soleil Bohemia ‘ is a new downtempo EP from Japanese producer SUPERCOZI whom based in Nice Côte d’Azur, South of France.

4 tunes were originally produced for her 80min producer set for Psybient.org, a beloved Psychill specialized website and forum that founded by an Ukranian DJ & artist Gagarin Project. Production was done between 2022 August to Octorber in her home studio in Nice Côte d’Azur, South of France where the artist resides since 2018. Final Mix ‘ Tales Towards Eternity ‘ , featuring this 4 tunes, is now on popular THE PSYCHEDELIC MUSE YouTube channel as [ CHILL SPACE MIX 085 ].

First 2 tunes ( Together, already 19 minutes ) ‘ Wild Hunt ‘ and ‘ Nountain Nonmo ‘ are locked on the same tempo (105BPM), gently build up the slow yet dance-seducing groove with ancient chants of her imaginary world of wilderness. Together, already 19 min long, the 2/3 of EP is an audio saga that designed to evoke landscapes of one’s imaginary kingdom, somewhere ancient and filled with mythical echoes.

Then EP title track, a chunky Electronica Swing ‘ Soleil Bohemia ‘ changed the gear to the festive vibe, perfect for boogie up the holiday season.
Following this is ending ‘ See You On The Other Side ‘ , a calm and mellow chill out with subtle touch of classic and Jazz.
Nearly 30min long EP ‘ Soleil Bohemia ‘ is a nice small package to lights up your last month of unpredictable 2022, designed for dance & chill.

01 : Wild Hunt  10:31
Slow 4/4 organic psychedelic downtempo groove for slow dancing moments.
Female speaking vocal is Ariel Electron, known for her collaboration with X-Dream, also an old friend whom I met at Burning Man Festival 1999, and it’s a re-use of audio file from EP ‘ Burning Man 1999 ‘ ( Matsuri Digital Chill / 2019 ).

Tune’s whole vibe was inspired by my favorite Netflix series ‘ The Witcher ‘.
This nearly 11 minutes long tune is intense and dark, evoking a horse riding odyssey that heading to a tussle battle between the dark & the light.
But at the same time this tune represents an unyelding spirit that no one can break down.
I hope that side of force in this tune will taking you to somewhere euphoric in the end.

 

02 : Mountain Nonmo  8:23
Title is a name of a holy mountain in my imaginary world, also assembled with a name of ancestral spirit of Dogon people in Mali.
This mysterious fish like creatures were believed, by some researchers, to came down from Sirius system in the Milky Way.

 

03 : Soleil Bohemia  5:20
A chunky, Jazz spiced Psy-Swing, something I want to play in this Christmas !
In my imaginary world, This tune is blasted out in an underground cave bar where the air is filled with frenzy Jazz and wobbling futuristic Bass .. And little town this bar is located is somewhat a mix of Star-Wars and post-war era Paris on a dusty planet … Images are so vivid in my head which helped me a lot to put all elements together.
Exotic female vocal is Jihaan, a flamenco singer who lives in Granada whom I met in 2019 during Space Mountain Festival ( Granada ), annual festival that organized by my old friend Youth. After the festival, while staying at my friend Spencer Style’s cave residence overlooking the Alhambra in Granada, I recorded some short videos of her singing after dinner with friends. I managed to extract some audio files of it and cleaned the data up.
Smoky Trumpet and Scat is my local friend MagiKal a.k.a Michael Potter, all recorded in 1 evening in my home studio in Nice.
Bit of steam punked Music clip I directed with Nice based collective MUSASABI will be on Space Shower Music ( Japan ) Youtube channel on 23th December 2022.

 

04 : See You On The Other Side  5:33
I composed this little ending tune in 2 nights, plus structure is very free. So it’s kinda stretched improvisation piece.
An emotional Cello solo, which I particularly in love with, is done by an Ukranian Cellist Artem Litovchenko, recorded in his home studio despite of the tough condition of the war.

「Soleil Bohemia」は、南仏ニース・コート・ダジュールを拠点に活動する日本人プロデューサー、SUPERCOZIの新作ダウンテンポEPだ。
ウクライナのDJ / アーティスト、Gagarin Projectが立ち上げた人気のサイチル専門サイトPsybient.orgの８０分プロデューサーセット用に制作された4曲を収録している。
制作は２０２２年８月から１０月にかけてニース・コート・ダジュールで行われた。
この4曲を収録したミックス「Tales Towards Eternity」もサイチル・シーンでは最高峰とも言えるTHE PSYCHEDELIC MUSEの人気YouTubeチャンネルで [ CHILL SPACE MIX 085 ] として配信中だ。

最初の2曲（合わせて19分）は、同じテンポ（105BPM）の「Wild Hunt」と「Nountain Nonmo」で、彼女の想像する荒野の世界の古代の聖歌とともに、ゆっくりと、しかしダンスに誘うようなグルーヴを優しく構築していく。この曲はリスナーの内なる旅、あるいは太陽や月の下、砂漠やジャングルでのダンスを思い起こさせるようにデザインされている。
そして、EPタイトル・トラックでチャンキーなエレクトロニカ・スウィング「Soleil Bohemia」は祝祭的な雰囲気にギアをチェンジ。ホリデーシーズンのブギーアップにぴったりな曲だと言えるだろう。
そしてエンディングの「See You On The Other Side」はクラシックとジャズの繊細なタッチを取り入れた極上のチルアウト。
合計約３０分にも及ぶロングEP「Soleil Bohemia」は、予測不可能だった２０２２年の最後の月を彩るダンス＆チル向けの素敵な小パッケージともいえよう。

01 : Wild Hunt  10:31

スローな４／４オーガニック・サイケデリック・ダウンテンポ・グルーヴで、ゆっくりとしたダンスにぴったりの曲です。
女性ボーカルはX-Dreamとのコラボレーションで知られるAriel Electronで、Burning Man Festival 1999で知り合った旧友でもあります。
EP ‘ Burning Man 1999 ‘ ( Matsuri Digital Chill / 2019 ) のオーディオファイルを再利用しています。

曲の全体の雰囲気は、私の大好きなネトフリのシリーズ「The Witcher」にインスパイアされたものです。 
この11分近い旅はインテンスでダークで、馬に乗って闇と光の戦いに向かう叙情詩を連想させるものです。
しかし同時にこの曲は誰にも打ち砕くことのできない不屈の魂を表しています。
この曲が持つポジティブな側面が、最後にはあなたをどこか幸福な場所へ連れていってくれることを願っています。

02 : Mountain Nonmo 8:23
タイトルは、私の想像の世界にある聖なる山の名前であり、マリのドゴン族の伝承にある祖先の霊の名前とも繋がっています。
この魚のような不思議な生き物は、研究者の間では天の川のシリウス星系から降りてきたと信じられているそう。

03 : Soleil Bohemia 　5:20
ジャズ調のチャンキーなサイ・スウィングで、自分的には今年のクリスマスに聴きたい曲。
私の想像の世界では、この曲は地下の洞窟バーで、熱狂的なジャズと未来的なベースが揺れ動く中で演奏されています。そしてこのバーがある小さな町は、埃っぽい惑星にあり、スターウォーズと戦後のパリを混ぜたような場所　、、、頭の中のイメージはとても鮮明で、全ての要素をまとめるのにとても役に立ちました。
エキゾチックな女性ボーカルは、２０１９年に私の古い友人Youthが主催したSpace Mountain Festival ( グラナダ／スペイン ) で出会ったグラナダ在住のフラメンコシンガー、Jihaanです。
フェス後、友人のスペンサー・スタイルのグラナダにあるアルハンブラ宮殿を見下ろす洞窟住居に滞在中に、彼女が友人たちとのディナー後に歌っている短い動画をいくつか録音しました。そこから音声ファイルを抽出し、データをクリーンアップして散りばめました。
スモーキーなトランペットとスキャットは私の地元の友人 MagiKal a.k.a Michael Potter で、全てニースの私のホームスタジオで一晩で録音したものです。
またニースを拠点とするコレクティブ、MUSASABIと一緒に監督した、スチームパンク風味のミュージッククリップも２０２２年１２月２３日にスペースシャワー・ミュージック・ジャパンのYoutubeチャンネルで配信開始になります。

04 : See You On The Other Side 　5:33
この小さなエンディング曲は２晩で作曲した即興演奏のような作品です。
ウクライナのチェリスト、アルテム・リトフチェンコが、戦時下の厳しい状況の中、自宅スタジオで録音してくれた情感あふれるチェロ・ソロが特に気に入っています。
