It was W compilation CDs, associated with their label party that held in 2000 early summer at an abandoned Soviet-era military base in east Germany. It was 1 night 2days mini festival and I played on Chill stage in the beautiful afternoon in early summer breeze. Another CD was Psy-Trance Mix by one of the label founder, James Monro who played on Trance stage.
I still remember how peaceful this gathering was, with so many family like people and label’s fan in Germany and beyond. Beside of FR founders James, Don, George’s sets, there are fantastic sets by my Ex husband Gus Till, Atmos, Red Seal, etc etc. I wrote a short memories for the CD’s back tray cover and it’s describe the atmosphere so much so i put them here :
” The synchronous wave pattern of the staring poplar tree, flash communications between mixed teknomad crew. Banging meltic nights under the shining mushroom arts and smiley hot chai in the morning mist. Calm vibes and new networking were forged. Every single party experience is it’s own journey and those random sampling memories from the Freeform party were stamped on my free mind passport ” Super COZI ( I have no idea why I spelled in this way ..)
Title say ‘ Live ‘ but this isn’t live recording because there wasn’t recording equipment on Chill stage. But I remember which tunes / order I played so well. So when they asked me to re-create Mix, I did so on logic in George Baker’s mum’s beautiful house in central London. I was pregnant my son Ashanti, probably very end of 9month so my belly was huge. I put laptop on the comfortable rag in her library room’s floor, placed few cushions to rest my belly on, and done the work. My belly pushed me up so it was bit challenge to do so but I managed.
I haven’t listened for a long time, but it’s still surprisingly sounds fresh. even I can say this could be my new mix ! As usual, plenty of Psychill with a hint of Jazz / Lounge / Trip hop meets exotica vibes, Dubby electronica, ambient grooves. Basically same style I still play, and you can definitely hear my roots in this Mix I created 20 years ago. I loved all tunes, especially ending tune, 16 minutes long beautiful meditation-vibe ambient ‘ Erased ‘ by old friend Kenji Williams ( Medicine Drum ) as Aba Structure. Oh how much I loved this tune ! He gave me DAT of this tune when he visited my old house in Devon with George, during our late night music listening session and endless music geek discussion about Psychill scene in the front of cozy fire place. Good memories !

クリスマス前のチルアウト時間に、、2001年にUKのサイトランスのパイオニアであるFlying Rhino Recordsからリリースされた私の初のコンパイル＆チルアウトMIX CD「Live in Germany 2000 」ミックスをミックス・クラウドにアップロードしました。https://www.mixcloud.com/…/supercozi-live-in-germany…/
このリリースは、2000年の初夏に東ドイツのソビエト時代の軍事基地の廃墟で行われた彼らのレーベルパーティに由来したWコンピレーションCDです。一泊2日のミニフェスで、私は初夏の風が吹く美しい昼下がりにChillステージでプレイしました。コンピのもう一枚はレーベル創設者の一人であるジェームス・モンローによるトランス・ミックスでした。ドイツ国内はもとより、世界各国のレーベルファンや家族のような人たちが集まり、とても和やかな雰囲気だったのを今でも覚えています。FRの創始者であるジェームス、ドン、ジョージのセット以外にも、私の元夫Gus Till、Atmos、Red Sealなどなど、素晴らしいセットが揃っていました。CDのバックトレイカバーに短いメモワールを書いたのですが、それがとても雰囲気を掴んでいるのでここに載せておきますね。

タイトルに「ライブ」とありますが、これはライブレコーディングではありません。録音機材がそもそもチルステージにはなかったと思う。でも、どの曲をどの順番でかけたかはよく覚えていた。それでMixの再現を依頼されたとき、ロンドン中心部にあるジョージ・ベイカーの母親の美しい家でロジックを使って再現したんですね。私はその時、息子のAshantiを妊娠していて、おそらく9ヶ月の終わり頃だったのでお腹がもうパンパンだった。書斎の床に敷かれた心地よい敷物の上にラップトップを置き、お腹を休ませるためのクッションをいくつか置いて仕事をしました。お腹が圧迫されてちょっと大変だったけど、なんとか仕上げたのを覚えています。
長い間聴いていなかったのだけど、今聞いても意外なくらい新鮮、、新しいミックスと言っても通用するくらい。いつものように、ラウンジ／ジャズ／トリップホップとエキゾチカのヴァイブを効かせたサイチル、ダビーなエレクトロニカ、アンビエントグルーヴが盛りだくさん。基本的に今でもプレイしているスタイルと同じで、20年前に作ったこのミックスから私のルーツを感じ取っていただけると思います。使用した曲はどれも当時のお気に入りで、特にエンディングの16分の美しい瞑想的アンビエント「Erased」は、旧友のケンジ・ウィリアムス (Medicine Drum) がAba Structureとして参加した曲で、とにかく好きな曲だった。彼がジョージと一緒に私とガスがその頃住んでいたデボンの家を訪れ、深夜に暖炉の前でサイチルのシーンについて延々と音楽オタク談義をしていたときにDATでくれた曲なんです。いい思い出だなあ、、
