“ Bass Odyssey ” is a downtempo album by SUPERCOZI, a Japanese producer based in Nice Côte d’Azur, South of France.
Titled after Stanley Kubrick’s classic film ‘ 2001: A Space Odyssey’, whole album is an experimental work that aims for a new horizon in electronica, combining bass-driven downtempo grooves with musical elements from various genres as diverse as Psydub, Psybient, Dubstep, Electro Swing, Celtic and Drum and Bass.
The 51-minute sonic journey begins with the desert-tinged melodic Psydub “ D.I.V.E 2025 ” ( inspired by Australian Eclipse Festival 2012 ) and ends with a spacey Drum and Bass “ Odyssey ”.
7 experimental and psychedelic tracks, each shines a different prism, takes the listener on a rich inner journey from sun-drenched soundscapes or tropical birds chirping jungle to skyscrapers twinkling Tokyo nights.

5 of the 7 tracks on the album feature 5 stellar cast of international guest musicians, each bringing their own sparkle to the tracks.
The opener ‘ D.I.V.E ‘ and the cinematic closer ‘ Odyssey ‘ , American MC AndreasOne enhances the dubby atmosphere with his raga roots vocals.
On 2nd track ‘ Jungle Love’, an exotic downtempo with a nostalgic nod to ‘ 90s Psy-chill , Japanese producer Tomocomo adds a psychedelic worldview with analogue synths.
3rd track ‘ No Spectator ‘ is Cozi’s first collaboration with Japanese rapper G-Ton, and she took on the unprecedented experiment of fusing Japanese rap and psydub, and successfully sublimates it into a powerful track with a majestic groove.
On 5th track ‘ Soleil Bohemia ‘, Nice-based Mika Pote lends a touch of 1920’s swing Jazz era with free-spirited scats & trumpet.
And in the album’s sprawling centrepiece – the nearly 11-minute odyssey ‘ Wild Hunt ‘ – German-based Ariel Electron, known for her collaborations with X-Dream, delivers an up lifting voice.

Featuring vocalist is American MC AndreasOne. A friend who Cozi met around 2011 during her 16 years of island life in Bali, Indonesia. His signature raga-roots vocals enhance the dub atmosphere.
Original track was constructed for her downtempo DJ set in Eclipse Festival 2012 in Cairns, Australia, which Andreas performed as a guest MC. Then it was released as a digital EP in 2013.
In 2025, inspired by a booking on the legendary DOME stage at Europe’s biggest outdoor festival, Ozora (Hungary), she reworked it with new grooves and synth layers, and other bits.
02- Jungle Love feat. Tomocomo 07:16 A Psychedelic downtempo that transport listeners to an imaginary tropical jungle.
Featuring artist is TOMOCOMO, fellow Japanese female electronic music producer / DJ, whom known for her 90’s Goa Trance style.
The two female artists, each pursuing their own psychedelic sound, met in Tokyo during Cozi’s Japan tour in October 2024. As a natural result, their first collaboration was born.
Both of them shares a common love for 90s Psychill music, So Cozi constructed exotic grooves with organic & nostalgic vibes to evoke TOMOCOMO’s imagination. Ventilated by the basic track, TOMOCOMO recorded various analogue synth parts in Tokyo, then Cozi finished the track in her home studio in Nice.
03- No Spectator feat. G-ton 07:38 An experimental Psydub featuring Japanese rapper G-ton.
G-ton has admired Supercozi’s sonic universe ever since picking up her 2005 release ‘ Luxury Addict ‘ CD that she dropped from her own label Hypo Espresso Records.
When she visited her native Japan in 2024 after 6 year break, the two artists finally crossed paths. For their debut collaboration, G-Ton penned lyrics inspired by his unforgettable experience at Burning Man 2016 in Nevada, USA.
Having received G-ton’s vocal stems he recorded in Nagoya, Japan, Cozi undertook the unprecedented experiment of fusing Japanese rap and Psydub in her home studio in Nice in the south of France, and successfully sublimated it into a powerful track with a majestic groove.

04- Tokyo Night 05:52 Urban chillwave with jazzy chords and scat.
Inspiration of this tune came down to her mind when she visited her home town Tokyo in 2024 October as the first time in 6 years. It was during her down-tempo DJ set at an outdoor venue in Shibaura, facing Tokyo Bay where she saw the skyscrapers begin to twinkle as dusk fell, and she was deeply moved by the sight of the surreal twilight sky slowly transforming into a big city night.
To recreate this futuristic yet somewhat nostalgic scene in sound, she combined a light, lounge-like sound inspired by Lo-fi, jazzy, cinematic chord progressions, and a fast-paced trip-hop groove.
05- Soleil Bohemia (Apero Edit) feat. Mika Pote 06:24 A Swing flavoured chunky down tempo, blending with dubstep bass, rippling synth arpeggios, a smattering samples inspired by 1920’s Jazz era, and gypsy-esque vocals.
Nice Based Mika Pote enhancing the playfulness with Mediterranean spirited freewheeling scat and trumpets.
This new version was motivated by the booking to perform a producer set at the Dome of Ozora (Hungary) in 2025.
06- Wild Hunt (Dome Edit) feat. Ariel Electron 10:42 Nearly 11 minutes long, An epic downtempo that evokes an imaginary wilderness scenery somewhere in Middle Earth.
With narrative voice by Ariel Electron – Germany based American singer known for her collaborations with X-Dream – and other-worldly elements inc. Celt-like female voices, male chants reminiscent of medieval Europe, track’s cinematic tension ascends into dramatic finale.
Cozi and Ariel first met in 1999, when they attended Burning Man in the Nevada desert, USA, as part of the international editorial team of the US-Japan techno and rave culture magazine Zavtone. At the time, Cozi was a contributor to the magazine, and had a series of humorous mini sci-fi novels called “ Diary of a Geisha=Borg Agent ”. They spent 10 days in the Black Rock Desert and had a life-changing experience.
10 years after this event, Ariel’s vocals were recorded in Germany for Cozi’s single “Burning Man 1999”, released on Matsuri Digital Chill Japan in 2019.
Then 3 years later, in 2022, Cozi produced original version of ‘ Wild Hunt ‘ as a part of an 80-minute producer set to be distributed on the popular YouTube channel PSYCHEDELIC MUSE, repurposing Ariel’s voice material. The mix, streamed as [ Chill Space MIX 085 ] , received numerous views and high praise. Then the track was released as the opening track of her digital EP ’ Soleil Bohemia ‘ in the same year, and became one of her most popular song.
This 2025 version was created to further explore her sound world for her producer set at Dome, a legendary Chillout stage in Ozora Festival (Hungary), one of the largest Psy-Trance Festival in Europe.
Quarter century after the two met, this work was completed, and it can truly be said that it is her odyssey that transcends time and space.
07- Odyssey 04:35 This spacey Drum and Bass track was originally constructed as a middle break parts of ‘ D.I.V.E 2025 ‘, Psydub track featuring American MC AndreasOne.
As the groove developed into its own sound sphere, Cozi decided to detach the part and produced as an individual track.
She was an enthusiast of the Drum and Bass movement in the 90s, and this track, full of love and respect for pioneers like LTJ Bukem, is perfect finale for the album, an odyssey with diverse bass sounds and a condensed saga of her chequered life.

51分のソニック・ジャーニーは、砂漠を感じるメロディックなサイダブ『D.I.V.E』( 豪州の皆既日食フェス2012に触発されて生まれた ）から始まり、ラストのスペイシーなドラムンベース『Odyssey』で幕を下ろす。それぞれに異なるプリズムを放つ実験的でサイケデリックな７曲は、太陽が脈打つサウンドスケープから、鳥がさえずる熱帯のジャングル、また高層ビルが煌めく東京の夜まで豊かな内なる旅へとリスナーを誘う。

2曲目の『Jungle Love』は、エキゾチックなヴァイブスと90年代サイチルのノスタルジックさが融合したトラックで、日本人プロデューサーのTomocomoがアナログシンセによるサイケデリックな世界観を加味している。

そしてアルバムのハイライトである１１分近い壮大な『Wild Hunt 』には、X-Dreamとのコラボレーションで知られるドイツ在住のアリエル・エレクトロンがナレーションで参加している。

太陽の照りつける灼熱の砂漠を感じるメロディックなサイダブ。
ヴォーカルはアメリカ人MCアンドレアス・ワン。コージーのインドネシア・バリ島での16年間にも及ぶ島暮らし中、2011年頃に知り合った友人で、彼の持ち味であるラガ・ルーツのヴォーカルがダブの雰囲気を高めている。
もともとこの楽曲は、2012年にオーストラリアのケアンズで開催されたイクリプス・フェスティバルに彼女がダウンテンポDJとしてプレイした際、アンドレアスがゲストMCとして参加した事をきっかけに制作され、2013年にデジタルEPとしてリリースされた。
2025年8月に欧州最大の野外フェスティバルOzora（ハンガリー）の伝説的なDOMEステージでプレイすることが決まったことがきっかけとなり、彼女はこのお気に入りのトラックに最新のグルーヴとシンセレイヤーなどを加えて再構築した。

サイケデリックなグルーヴで緩やかに盛り上げながら、リスナーを架空の熱帯のジャングルへと誘うようなチルアウト・チューン。
フィーチャリング・アーティストは、90年代のゴア・トランス・スタイルで知られる日本人女性エレクトロニック・ミュージック・プロデューサー／DJのTOMOCOMO。
それぞれのサイケデリックな音世界を追求してきた二人の女性アーティストが2024年に東京で出会い、初コラボレーションとなるこの曲が産まれた。
二人は90年代のサイチル・ミュージックに対する愛情を共有していたことから、コージーはトモコモのイマジネーションを呼び起こすような、オーガニックでノスタルジックな雰囲気のエキゾチック・ダウンテンポを構築。
そのベーシックトラックに換気され、トモコモが様々なアナログ・シンセによるパートを東京の自宅スタジオで録音した後、コージがニースの自宅スタジオでトラックを仕上げた。

日本人ラッパーのG-tonをフィーチャーした実験的なサイダブ。
G-Tonは2005年にスーパーコージが自分のレーベルからリリースしたアルバム『ラグジュアリー・アディクト』のCDを購入して以来、彼女の音世界をリスペクトしていたという。
2024年、６年ぶりに彼女が日本に帰国した際に出会い今回実現したこの初コラボのために、G-Tonは2016年に参加した米国ネヴァダ州の野外レイブ、バーニングマンでの体験からインスパイアされた歌詞を書いた。
日本の名古屋で録音されたG-Tonの音源を受け取った彼女は、南仏ニースの自宅スタジオで日本語ラップとサイダブの融合という前例のない実験に挑み、雄大なグルーブを持つパワフルなトラックへと見事に昇華させている。

ジャジーなコードとスキャットが都会的なチルウェイブ。
曲のインスピレーションを得たのは2024年10月。６年ぶりに出身地の東京を訪れた際で、東京湾に面した芝浦の野外会場でダウンテンポのDJセットをしていた時に、夕暮れとともに高層ビル群が煌めき始め、シュールな薄明かりの空がゆっくりと大都会の夜に変わっていく光景に感動したのだという。
この近未来的でありながらどこかノスタルジックな印象のシーンを音で再現するために、彼女はLo-fiにインスパイアされた軽めでラウンジ風なサウンドと、ジャジーでシネマティックなコード進行、そしてテンポの速いトリップホップのグルーヴを組み合わせた。

フューチャリング・ミュージシャンは彼女が2018年から住んでいる南仏ニースを拠点に活動するミカ・ポーテ。

ミドルアースのどこかにある荒野の情景を想像させるような、11分近い壮大なダウンテンポ。
X-Dreamとのコラボレーションで知られるドイツ在住のアメリカ人シンガー、アリエル・エレクトロンによる語り口と、ケルト風の女性の声や中世ヨーロッパを彷彿とさせる男性のチャントなど異世界風の音要素が重なり合い、フィナーレへとシネマティックな疾走感を高めていく。
コージーとアリエルの出会いは1999年、日米のテクノ＆レイヴ・カルチャー誌『Zavtone』の国際編集チームの一員として、アメリカ・ネバダ砂漠で開催されたバーニングマンに参加したことだった。当時、コージは雑誌の寄稿者として、ユーモラスなミニSF小説『ゲイシャ＝ボーグ・エージェントの日記』を連載していた。二人はブラックロック砂漠に10日間滞在し、人生を変えるような体験をした。
その忘れ難い体験から10年後の2019年、Matsuri Digital Chill JapanからリリースされたコージーのEP『Burning Man 1999』のためにアリエルがヴォーカルをドイツでレコーディング。
それから更に3年が経った2022年、コージーは人気YouTubeチャンネルPSYCHEDELIC MUSEに配信される80分プロデューサーセットの一部として『Wild Hunt』を制作し、アリエルの声素材を再利用。同年12月に [ Chill Space MIX 085 ] として配信されたミックスは多数の視聴を得て、高評価を獲得。同年トラックはデジタルEP『 Soleil Bohemia』のオープニングとしてリリースされ、彼女の人気曲のひとつとなった。
そして今年の欧州最大野外フェスティバル、オゾラ（ハンガリー）／ドームでのプロデューサー・セットでプレイするため、音世界をさらにディープに追求したこの2025年ヴァージョンが制作された。
二人の出会いから四半世紀を経て完成したこの作品は、まさに時空を超えたストーリーを内包した１曲だと言える。

アルバムを締めくくるスペイシーなドラムンベース。
元々は、アメリカ人MC アンドレアス・ワンをフィーチャーしたサイダブ『D.I.V.E 2025 』の中間ブレイク・パーツとして制作されたが、グルーヴが独自のサウンドに発展するにつれ、コージーはこのパートを切り離し、個別のトラックとして制作することにした。
彼女は90年代のドラムンベース・ムーブメントの熱狂的なファンだった。LTJ Bukemのようなパイオニアへの愛とリスペクトに満ちたこのトラックは、多様なベース・サウンドのオデッセイ（抒情詩）であると同時に、彼女の波瀾万丈な人生を巡るサーガを凝縮したアルバムのフィナーレを飾るにふさわしい曲だと言えるだろう。
